朱利安（瑞恩·高斯林 Ryan Gosling 饰）十年前因为一起谋杀从美国逃亡泰国避难，和哥哥比利（汤姆·伯克 Tom Burke 饰）在曼谷开了一家拳击俱乐部做幌子进行地下毒品交易。比利因为强奸并谋杀一位年仅十六岁的泰国少女遭到泰国警方的注意。少女的父亲在警察头子Chang（维他亚·潘斯林加姆 Vithaya Pansringarm 饰）的挑唆下杀了比利。朱利安和比利的生母克里斯朵（克里斯汀·斯科特·托马斯 Kristin Scott Thomas 饰）前往曼谷为长子收尸。复仇心切的克里斯朵见到软弱无能的次子朱利安不禁怒火中烧，雇了杀手想除掉一系列与比利死亡有关的人。朱利安本想就此放过Chang将此事了结，可是在母亲一步步疯狂的刺激和威逼之下不得不参与进这血腥的杀戮。 本片是导演尼古拉斯·温丁·雷弗恩与瑞恩·高斯林继《亡命驾驶》后合作的第二部影片。
Ten years ago in Bangkok Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.
When Julian's brother kills a prostitute, the police reaches out to retired cop Chang, known as the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughters murderer, then restores order by chopping off the man's right hand.
Julian's mother, Crystal, the head of a powerful criminal organization, arrives in Bangkok to collect her son's body. She orders Julian to find his killers and raise hell.
Increasingly obsessed with the Angel of Vengeance, Julian challenges him to a boxing match, hoping that by defeating him he might find spiritual release but Chang triumphs. A furious Crystal plots revenge and the stage is set for a bloody journey through betrayal and vengeance towards a final confrontation and the possibility of redemption.
